Itinerary

Marrakech, Aït Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Agdz and Zagora
This part of the route is organized around Marrakech, Aït Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Agdz and Zagora. Explore the Sahara on a tour from Marrakech, your private desert tour company. After pick-up at your hotel, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the breathtaking Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m) and make our way to the famous Aït Benhaddou kasbah, which has featured in many Hollywood films. From there, we visit Ouarzazate and the Atlas Film Studios before driving to Agdz, where we stop to view the palm oases of the Draa Valley, and continue on to Zagora. Overnight in a local riad, with dinner included.
Zagora, Tamegroute, M'hamid and Erg Chigaga
The Zagora, Tamegroute, M'hamid and Erg Chigaga stage keeps the route moving at the planned pace. After breakfast, we travel via Tamegroute on our way to the Sahara dunes, stopping to visit the famous Koranic library and meet local craftsmen. We continue to M'hamid, then take a 4x4 excursion across the Erg Chigaga dunes. To reach the desert camp, you ride a camel for about an hour and a half. After dinner, we listen to traditional Berber music and you spend the night in a luxury tent similar to those used by Sahara nomads. This keeps the middle day focused on the remote Erg Chigaga dunes.
Erg Chigaga, Foum Zguid, Taznakht and Marrakech
This day follows the Erg Chigaga, Foum Zguid, Taznakht and Marrakech section of the itinerary. Our 3-day Marrakech-to-Chigaga adventure continues today with a camel ride out of the dunes, followed by a drive to Foum Zguid and a visit to the Berber town of Taznakht, famous for its handwoven carpets. From there, we return to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. This closes the Chigaga loop without changing the final route back to Marrakech.
